|
The STAR Program is the New York State School Tax Relief Program that provides an exemption from school property taxes for owner-occupied primary residences.
Homeowners of all ages, regardless of income, are eligible to apply for the Basic STAR Exemption.
The Enhanced STAR Exemption is available to residents over the age of 65-years with income less than $70,650. If income exceeds this amount, these residents can apply for the Basic STAR Exemption. This income level will change annually based on the cost of living adjustment.
In order to find out how much your STAR Exemption is worth in terms of tax dollars, please refer to your school tax bill – the STAR Exemption amount as well as your tax savings will be stated directly on this bill. Please note that this exemption applies only to your school district taxes – library taxes do not apply.
